Shelly BLU line of devices are low power, battery operated devices, and use Bluetooth Low Energy radio.

The product line shares a common open source communication standard protocol - BTHome, which is provided and supported by Home Assistant project

This allows them to be easily used by many home automation platforms, with or without other Shelly devices.

The Bluetooth Low Energy communication has a relatively low range of operation (30m in direct visibility). Shelly provides optional functionality to overcome this limitation using other Shelly devices with bluetooth to retransmit their data to the cloud, and/or Home Assistant or other home automation platform, or use scripting to program extended operations.
